Welcome to our blog

Kibera. Most of us have never heard of this place, the biggest slum in Africa and home to an estimated quarter million people crammed into a space the size of Central Park in NYC. Poverty and violence run rampant alongside a perpetual hope for better things.

From the economy to the history, our blog entries will cover all manner of topics and problems found in Kibera and, hopefully, will help to spread the word about the slum and maybe attract some more help to a place that desperately needs it. And if you, our Potsdam peers, were curious or confused about some of the issues Barcott mentions in It Happened On the Way to War, our blog might clear things up for you.

Please choose an essay to read from the list at the right.

Enjoy and comment.
